CJR/# 9 Raises Funds For Tsunami Victims |
|
|
Students and staff at the Charles J. Riley/School # 9 sent nearly $4,000 to children's charities helping victims of the South Asian Tsunami disaster. The money was collected in an effort spearheaded by the school's Model United Nations Club and the Junior National Honor Society. Student fund-raisers wrote the name of each donor on a separate heart. The hearts were then placed on a wall to form a larger heart. y the end of the collection, 908 hearts, most of them representing students at the school, filled the "Wall of Love" and spread to a second wall. The school mailed checks to the Save the Children Foundation and UNICEF. February 3, 2005 |
