Cheff's campaign is based upon the needs and interests of the members of the NJEA. He has stated, "As your NJEA Secretary-Treasurer I will take every opportunity to be a strong positive advocate for your rights. Legislatively I will make our retirement health benefits, the state imposed 2.5 cap on public education, subcontracting and privatizations, and the expanded scope of negotiations bill top priorities."

Cheff continues, "Organizationally, I will shift the emphasis from headquarters to the locals and their members, I will return to the strength of this association, proactive advocacy for all members, and will promote and draft an NJEA budget that makes the needs of the members its driving force."

In commenting on the endorsement by the P.E.A. Delegates, President Pete Tirri said, "We are thrilled that someone who understands the needs of urban districts is

running for election to the NJEA. For too long, the needs of the largest locals have been overlooked."
